May Mongoose

Flickr Commenter 1: Is that for real or are they friends? One of my favorite stories by Rudyard Kipling is about a mongoose names Rikki-tikki-tavi.
Flickr Commenter 2: mongoose killed the snake, they were not freinds.
Flickr Commenter 3: I remember well rikki-tikki-tavi. Very interesting photo
Flickr Commenter 4: I think we shouldn’t facilitate animal cruelty by paying to watch these fights. Unfortunately Pakistan is one safe haven for all sorts of animal cruelty tagged as sport or entertainment!
Besides, these snakes are defanged in most cases!
Flickr Commenter 2: i don’t mind if snake killd, at least a family of poor snake charmer gets bread. On the other hand we pay billions of dollars daily by drinking coca cola and wearing branded clothe to facilitate Americans and Jews to shower daisy cutter and napalm bombs to kill thousands of human beings around the world, in Lebanon these days humans are cheaper than snakes.
By the way for your kind information, later i came to know that snake was alive and this fight was a total drama. Both mongoose and snakes are well trained and they they do not kill each other and just pretend that they are fighting.
Flickr Commenter 4: I disagree when u compare humans with animals. Humans are too pugnacious to ever stop fighting and killing. So if they’re killing themselves, that’s their choice for they can defend themselves. But flora and fauna just cannot defend itself from humans. If we keep comparing human killing with animal killing, humans are never going to stop killing, that’s for sure, and as a result we’re going to end up losing the rest as well.
I’m glad to hear this killing is just a drama, unlike countless other forms of animal massacres that are carried out in this country

Vendy on previous thread~ Yes, we shall Kokonvene another time. Actually, you’re interested in sailing, are you going to be involved in ASTA’s tall ships’ challenge at all? It’s in the great lakes this year.
Penguini on previous thread~ Good. It truly is appreciated. If someone is trying but not entirely accurate, it’s okay, but if they just don’t bother to try or improve what they’re doing, eurgh. It tries one’s patience.

yes vendy do the tall ships thing and then you can meet ME! (and fern and grant. but also ME)

Oh, and now it works. Okay, lets see if it’ll work with what I originally wanted to say.
The links you need in order to stalk me this summer:
General American Sail Training info on the Tall Ship’s Challenge is here- http://www.sailtraining.org/tallships/2010greatlakes/index.php
Niagara is here- http://flagshipniagara.org/
Niagara’s blog is here- http://brigniagara.wordpress.com/
Julia, you’ve already met one of these sexy people! But you should totally come.
Ebeth, I think he’ll be there, not entirely sure when he leaves for Germany (he’s totally abandoning me, the jerk). In any case, you get to meet ME, so it’s all good.
This is like the summer of Kokonventions. Alice and I had been planning/hoping to meet in Chicago, but unfortunately that didn’t fall through. (
) But now there’s Kokonventions planned in Cleveland and possibly with Jade in Chicago.
I’m a little scared though, my grandparents, aunt and uncle and two cousins are all coming to see me in Duluth.
It doesn’t sound like a big group, but with my relatives, that’s a crowd. And then my grandparents are coming to Green Bay too. I think they’re just a little bit enthusiastic. I just hope they don’t bring along TylerTheCousinFromHell.

Now, if I can pass my driving test on Monday…..

Life is good.
Homeschool review went well.
Driving test, passed.
Driving alone, completely glitchless.
Weather, beautiful.
Food? Oh yeah, favorite Japanese snack and the best eclair ever.
Unexpected package in the mail, which was cool enough, but it was an awesome t-shirt from an even awesomer boyfriend.
And I found the pants I was wondering about. (Turns out they were on the clothesline. But still, I found them, yay!)
Next up, Harry Potter movie marathon with Mom, who has been remarkably non-bitchy for the past few days.

*hands over pie* Why not?

Nope, I haven’t been very active on MB in quite a while. Every time I consider going back, all the unfamiliar names scare me away again. But I’ll probably be more active on here.

Uhh, yeah, very friendly. Just don’t kill me, please? It would make me very sad if I made it through the AP gov, calc, and physics tests and junior year in general and then died right afterwards in the middle of rejoicing about them being over.
Well, it wouldn’t make me sad, because I’d be dead. But you know what I mean.

Emmatheduck? I’ve only been on MB since December 2008 (eep a year and a half ago where did the time go?), but speller said you were the one who told her about MuseBlog, and I saw your letter to Muse (the one with the picture of you and Robert at the spelling bee).

I have a shitload of balloons in my room. 0.o They’re tied to my music stand and bumping into the violin player mobile that hangs from my ceiling. It would help if I had more ceiling space, but I also have a clothes drying rack up there, and it’s currently full of laundry. But still. BALLOONS. Lot’s of ‘em!
And cake.
However, a stuffed up nose and starting one’s period don’t make great birthday presents. >.<
And rain. Dammit rain, I have to do laundry, because I want to look decent when I go a-roving college visiting, and I've wanted to look decent the past few days, so that means LAUNDRY TOMORROW but it's raining and my parents are crazy tree-huggers and our house is minuscule so we don't have a dryer. Blarg.

Fiddler | May 21, 2010 at 8:10 pm
Heyyy guys!
The college visit is awesome, I just posted a summary (albiet rambling and probably full of typos) on MB, and I’m lazy, so I’m just reposting it here.
HII!!! Guess what? I found the computers.
For those of you who don’t know I’m visiting a college this weekend. Staying in the dorms, visiting classes today, other stuff over the weekend. It’s fun.
So. I flew out here on Thrusday, and got in in the afternoon. Then after taking a tour and orientation and foodz and talk at us by the dean and president (who I know [!!]) and suchlike, we settled in and then went bowling. Dude. I’ve never been bowling in my life before. Needless to say, I was horrid at it. There was this one kid in our group who was ridiculously good. And plays piano and sings well (he played the Charlie Brown song. I think several of us kind of fell in love. It’s very sad) had on a Rubic’s cube t-shirt. Basically, he’s a cool geek. But he’s kind of quiet. Anyway, I digress.
So bowling, I sucked, but it was fun anyway.
Then home, talking, were going to watch Monty Python but couldn’t get subtitles or hear it over the din, so ended up just talking.
Then today was classes and getting lost.
Unfortunately some of the classes I REALLY WANTED to attend were either cancelled or not really good for visiting, like Intro. to Philosophy was basically a description of the assignment they were going to be doing for the next 2 weeks. And that was the same time as the Foil Fencing class, so double bummer. That was a hard call.
Um, and then Historical Thought and Research (or something along those lines) was nonexistant. *sobs* And Mathematical Applications (yes Robert, I VOLUNTARILY signed myself up for a math class, aren’t you proud?) was having an exam, so no go there. *siigh I went to an Austin class instead.
Uhm and then, uh, hanging out in the living room, listening to music, singing Beates songs with Jessica-from-Brazil (there are like a million Jessicas here). Then we went to Ultimate Frizbee, which we both sucked at, so we ended up taking a walk and talking for several hours. She’s awesome and so much fun. It’s interesting, most of the people I’ve been hanging out with here are older. Jess is 22, my roommate Jess is 18 (6 days older than me!), Chase has got to be at least 20. I dunno. Like, some of the others who are my age are fun too, it just seems like the ones I’m getting in serious conversations with or doing stuff with are older. Meh, it works.
Anyway, Jess and I were talking for a few hours and thought we had missed dinner, so came running back to our dorm in time to find everyone leaving, fortunately we got dinner and all, then went to see Robin Hood, and I basically fell in love with the production. Seriously, it was AWESOME. I could rave forever, but suffice it to say, it was really good.
I actually like this school more than I thought I would. I was afraid that since it’s a Christian Science college it would be like Sunday School 24/7, which is cool, but only to a point. But it’s pretty cool. I mean, CS is still obviously a huge part of the experience, but it’s not bashing you over the head at ever turn, which is great. And they’re pretty cool about stuff, Robin Hood was full of innuedos, which was completely epic.
So yeah, now I’m back at the house, on the computer, chatting with some friends, checking up on emails, etc. So sorry this post probably makes no sense and is riddled with typos, since I’m on a horrid keyboard.
And I should probably go to sleep or take a shower at least, since it’s 11 and I’ve been up since 7, but awake-ish way before (gods, my roommate is awesome but she’s a total morning person. Our internal clocks DO NOT MESH.) And today has felt like at least 2 days in one, so I’m kind of tired. And my stuff is just thrown on my bed. *siiiigh*
Okay, congrats if you read that whole thing, and MAJOR kudos if it made any sense whatsoever.

Fiddler | May 22, 2010 at 7:34 am
Vendy~ Yup, that’s the college indeed. Did you know it or did you stalk it? Because it’s relatively easy to find, but I didn’t want it to be snipped on MB and I was too lazy to write two versions for there and here.
49.
Vendaval | May 22, 2010 at 9:48 am
It’s the only Christian Science college I know of. I also know a kid who very seriously considered going there. Is it small?
50.
Mel | May 22, 2010 at 7:56 am
So I am in Bonn (Deutschland) nao and it is the greatest thing ever. Worshipping the land outside Beethoven’s birthplace and getting (fucking awesome as fuck) German beer and whatnot. I’m here to learn German, but I don’t think you’d want me typing this auf Deutsch…
Hausaufgabenzeit…that’s probably not even a real word.
51.
Fiddler | May 22, 2010 at 9:54 pm
Vendy~ Yeah? Awesome! It is small. But it’s ridiculously easy to get lost on campus, don’t ask how I know. >.<
it's cool though, it's one of 2 colleges that I've visited so far (as a prospective student, not like just been on the campus), and that I actually can imagine going to. I think it's the only Christian Science college, actually.
Mel~ My boyfriend used to live in Bonn! I almost smacked him upside the head when he said that, I was like "BEETHOVEN'S BIRTHPLACE! Why did you not TELL ME BEFORE?!"

Yooper accent?
Heh, I have a somewhat Midwestern accent, due to Mom being from WI and spending so much time there. Whatever I sound like, it’s certainly not like the area where I live, which is pretty Southern sounding. Bunch’a Appalachian rednecks, yes we are.
I usually sound more Midwestern if I’m in the Midwest or around others who have similar accents. Or if I’m tired. When I’m tired I sound very Wisconsin-y.
Kagz~Do you share this computer, or is someone using it against your will? Because there are ways of password protecting you know.
Heh, though I tried out the “parental controls” on the guest account on my computer and then looked to see what could be found, and basically you can find anything as long as it doesn’t have the words “porn” “naked” or “sex” in it. So much for that.
64.
Jadestone | May 29, 2010 at 7:33 am
I’m from the midwest, aka the land of no accents. We live really close to WI but no one I know has that accent (except for 2 girls on my hockey team who were from WI, which was fun).
I guess I have a slight Chicago accent for a few words (like “Chicago”) but otherwise no : P
I can do a british accent and I used to be ale to do australian and irish/scottish but I can’t really anymore
Must regain them!

Jade~ Midwest, yes, it does have an accent.
Beev~ Hi!
66~ I don’t know that I’ve ever recognized a CA accent. The people from CA that I’ve talked to have sounded perfectly normal to me.
Jade~ Congrats!
I have hair that’s shorter yet, whoo! The shortest layers (in the back) are about 1 1/2″, and the longest parts (towards the top, front and bangs) are maybe 3″ or so.
It’s more of a pixie style than it was before, being lighter around the sides and back and all. Actually, it’s a pixie. What I had before was short, pixie-esque combined with the Beatles haircut. But this could be fairly called a pixie, based on what google images turns up. Whatever it is, I like it.
