I’d like to see Dr. Who, but am not sure how. Is there a site like Hulu that will get it for me, or should I find peer supported means?

Ebeth | April 12, 2010 at 11:42 am
they are apparently all on dailymotion. not on hulu though, which is a shame. i’m sure you could find them through megavideo and stuff like that. but it might be nice to have the downloads, better quality and all

So I’ve been considering starting watching Doctor Who. How would you suggest I go about doing this?
9.
Vendaval | April 12, 2010 at 7:01 pm
I was going to start with the latest Doctor.

Nah, don’t do that, start with the beginning of the new series.
Also, I FUCKING LOVED IT. Matt Smith is great, but Karen Gillan is the greatest. <3 so hard.
Also, as some of you may know, a bunch of my friends went to this, and I couldn't come. I hate my life.

I fucking love time zones. 720p of the new episode on my server now, http://tinyurl.com/y6xmaow has it streaming and for some reason it actually works.

I love the new Doctor. I think Matt Smith does a wonderful job playing him. They obviously had to keep the kookiness that David Tennant brought to the show because that is what drew a lot of people in, and I was a bit worried that the doctor would not change at all, but they managed to find a happy medium of different but similar…
I am still not sure about how I feel about Miss Pond, however. I think Karen Gillian plays her very nicely, and she brings an interesting aspect to the show, but I do hope that she does not become intimately involved with the Doctor.
That is why I really loved Donna: because it was a sort of friendship, not relationship. She would mock him and call him ‘spaceboy’ and things of that sort, like a friend or sibling would. When Martha wanted to be involved with the Doctor, it really pissed me off.
To me, Rose is the only one who should be with the Doctor. Even though, after a while her character gets a bit annoying, she was still perfect for him.
But yeah…that’s just my take on it. But what is it with the Doctor and picking up women who are about to get married in the near future, amirite?

Oh! But something I’ve noticed. In each of the new episodes, there is like…a crack with light coming out of it. Always the same shape. With light beaming from it. Maybe I’m just going insane, but it seems important. It is like…it looks like a wiggly parabola. About 1/4x^2 in general shape, but of course still a crack so it’s not perfectly shaped. I cannot figure out what it is.
Anyone have any idea? You have to kind of watch closely.

dark dude of darkness | April 25, 2010 at 2:26 pm
Yeah, it’s the cracks in the wall from the first episode. I’m thinking it’s something like bad wolf was in the last season. Seems sort of dues ex machina, but hey, it’s the doctor!
Also, new episode, GODDAMN FUCK WHAT. Most ridiculous cliffhanger ever, I should not have watched this until I knew I had the second part.
About ms pond, I absolutely love her. Honestly, I think she’s FAR better than Donna, and martha too.

Human no.4723985142978141622 | April 25, 2010 at 3:21 pm
Everyone is better than Martha. /I’m/ better than Martha, even.
And the cracks have been in every single epsode, not just in the wall. It was on the ship with the starwhale, it was on a monitor on the TARDIS, it was the shape that the Daleks disappeared into, and in the other episodes too. It’s like…ridiculously everywhere. Bad Wolf wasn’t even this prominent. xD
I’m really excited though, to see what happens.

13- Did you see the latest episode? She doesn’t seem like she wants to be picked up. Then again Moffat’s writing the episodes so…that is his downside. Also Amy has Giant Balls Of Steel and it’s Awesome.
Donna was my favouritest! Have you seen any of Catherine Tate’s other sketches with Tennant? I swear, those two have the greatest ever onscreen chemistry no matter who(m) they’re playing. It’s awesome.
But bleargh to Rose. She was useless. And then a creepy stalker. Okay, half of that was RTD’s shitty-ass writing. But still. I like the Doktah being alone. I loooove River Song, though she seems to be unpopular; I have faith she’ll get awesomer. I just wish Jack would come back. Or the Doktah’s daughter. Or his granddaughter.
Okay, I know this is vague buuttttttt I remember thinking “WAIT NO THAT CONTRADICTS SOMETHING EARLIER” when I watched Time of Angels, but I can’t remember what it was and I don’t have time to rewatch. Anyone else get that feeling?
Lizzie- I’d start at the top of the 2005 series, or with 11. And then maybe 1 or 4. The 8th Doktah was only in a movie, which is really weird if you haven’t seen more of DW…Hmm…this is complicated, methinks.

dark dude of darkness | April 26, 2010 at 12:35 pm
yup, amy is the bestest. Donna, not so much. I dunno, I just found her annoying. The fact that Amy is about 700000000 times more attractive than Donna could concievably factor into it, but she’s also just better in every way.
19.
Human no.4723985142978141622 | April 26, 2010 at 4:39 pm
I love River Song too. Like…she must be pretty goddamn cool for the doctor to marry her, you know? And she kind of reminds me of Donna a little bit, just in her tone with the Doctor. But she dosnt steal his thunder. I dunno, I hope we see alot more of her. I want to know what makes her so special that the Doctor falls in love with her.
I wish Jack was in it alot more also xD I don’t get Torchwood on the TV where I live, so I am forced to only see him in the crap quality of live streaming.
I think Amy will eventually grow in me, just because I hated Donna at the beginning too. And the red-haired women who are about to get married to someone else…What the hell is that about? xD Amy’s the second one. Maybe it’s foreshadowing. The cracks are certainly following her around like how Donna was a vertex.

I should probably watch Doctor Who.

Vendaval | April 26, 2010 at 6:12 pm
As someone who has just started, I can attest to the quality of the visuals, music, and dialogue. Not sure about anything else yet, but it’s looking very promising.

As someone who just started, oh my god it’s addictive. If you have any major exams coming up, I would recommend waiting to start.

Oh xD I started watching it a few years ago during midterm exams. That was probably the worst timing in the world. So addicting x.x

Hey, so I’m pretty new here but I absolutely adore Doctor Who. There haven’t been any posts in a while but I have some stuff to talk about. It’s the night before Vampires in Venice so maybe some things will get explained tomorrow. But…..
1) I loved all of the companions except Martha. And I was totally loving how the dynamic of the Doctor and Amy was developing and Amy was AWESOME! It seemed like half-way through the last episode (Stone and Flesh) they were establishing almost an older brother/guardian-younger sister relationship and then at the end SHE THROWS HERSELF ON HIM!!!! I’m actually very pissed about this because I seem to have issues with the Doctor being in blatantly romantic relationship. Except Rose but even then it was never explicitly stated until the Doctor/Human. This contributes to why I actually dislike River Song. Yeah, she must be awesome to get the Doctor but I am still waiting to see anything remarkable about her. But back to the thing, I’m just hoping that this Amy-hitting-on-Doktah stuff is her freaking out about dying and her wedding and that it will just fade out.
2) Personally, I did not have any discrepancies about the Weeping Angel stuff in the latest season. I feel like I can justify all of Moffat’s writing. I know that a friend of mine was a little peeved about the fact that the angels were moving with out coming out of their stone form . But I felt that because the beeping sonar was still working they were still partially being observed, this may also explain why they were moving so slowly.
3) In the last episode, did they ever reveal what it was that Amy was supposed to remember the Doctor had told her? My internet was malfunctioning and I may or may not have missed it. In the oxygen factory, when the Doctor was leaving Amy with the four dudes, they were talking about trust and lying and some other things. What was it she was supposed to remember?
4) After the season 5 opener I thought that the seasonal phrase was going to be “Silence” but now it seems like it’s not a phrase anymore but the Crack. The 1st season was “Bad Wolf”, 2nd was “Torchwood”, 3rd was supposed to be… actually I don’t recall what it was. If anyone remembers, I’d like to know. The fourth season was Doctor Donna. Does anyone else have ideas about the fifth season’s? Is it the Crack instead of an actual word or two?
5) And finally, Vampires in Venice tomorrow!!!!! I’m so excited I may explode!!!! What do you guys think of Amy’s fiance? I’m a little weirded out by the red t shirts they wear in the trailer. I can see some connections between Amy and Rose, like Mickey and this new guy, the younger companion who has a big heart, and so on. But I would like Amy to have a different relationship with the Doctor. I don’t want Amy to become the Eleventh Doctor’s Rose.

I’m watching the Doktah season with David Tennant and Billie Piper. I’m currently on the episode that starts off where Rose is narrating saying “this is where I die” or whatever and then cybermen and daleks come through on earth. And Mickey is working at Torchwood or something. I haven’t seen the second part. I have some questions that maybe some of you could clear up.
1. Martha Jones is in it, but she dies, and her name is Adi or somehting…. what is up with that?
2. What happened to Mickey? He mentioned something about facing cubermen before. I don’t remember this happening, but I also missed the beginning of this season.
I’m just really confused.
35.
Ebeth | July 14, 2010 at 3:23 pm
ohhh…don’t skip the early episodes! it will just confuse you! martha jones isn’t it it, it’s just the chick who plays martha playing a different character. this happened before they knew they wanted her to play a companion. Mickey went off to fight the cybermen in the parallel universe that he and rose are coming from in that ep. if you haven’t seen rise of the cybermen/age of steel, i’d recommend going back and watching those first

Thanks. I know I should go back and watch the early episodes. I’m crossing my fingers that I get that season for my birthday. They’re playing on TV right now and I didn’t realize until they got partway through the season.

I realized I’m more emotionally invested in Doctor Who than I am in my own life.
I think the only thing that made me cry more than the episode where Rose gets trapped in the other dimention is the first Land Before Time movie….. I need to get out more.
